Frank S. Greene, Ph.D.
Frank S. Greene Jr. passed on Saturday, December 26th, 2010 in Mountain View, California. The Memorial Celebration of Life Events was held on March 6th, 2010 at the Mission Church on the Santa Clara University campus.
Frank S. Greene was the founding partner of NewVista Capital, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. NewVista Capital has invested in 26 start-up technology companies.
In the mid 1960s, he came to Silicon Valley to join Fairchild Semiconductor as a memory chip and system designer. In the early 1970s, he became an entrepreneur, co-founding and building two technology companies that developed software and computer services. One company went IPO and another was sold to a large public software company in the mid 1980s.
Since the early 1990s, he was an angel investor and a venture capital fund partner.
He was a venture investor in over 25 early stage companies, where he has been a member of the board of over ten companies. He was a board member of two companies.
He was a former trustee of Santa Clara University and former chairman of the board of the American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
Dr. Greene gave numerous leadership talks and workshops to entrepreneurs, corporate and business professionals, and university engineering students and faculty using the VRE Leadership model. He was a speaker at professional and business organizations and universities, including Stanford University, Santa Clara University, Purdue University, The Kellogg School, and Morehouse College.
He held a B.S. in EE from Washington University, an M.S. in EE from Purdue, and a Ph.D. in EE from Santa Clara University.
